How to Incubate Parrot Eggs

### Preparing the Incubator

* Clean and disinfect the incubator. This is the most important step to ensure the eggs are not contaminated with bacteria. Use a weak bleach solution or a disinfectant specifically designed for incubators.

* Set the temperature and humidity. For most parrots, the ideal incubation temperature is between 88-90°F (31-32°C). The humidity should be kept at 50-60%.

* Add the eggs. Place the eggs in the incubator with the pointy end facing down. Make sure the eggs are not touching each other, as this can prevent them from receiving enough air.

* Close the incubator and monitor the temperature and humidity. Check the incubator daily to ensure the temperature and humidity are within the ideal range.

Egg Turning

* Turn the eggs several times a day. This is essential to prevent the embryos from sticking to the shells. Turn the eggs at least twice a day, or more if possible.

* Gently rotate the eggs. When turning the eggs, do not rotate them too much. A small, gentle rotation is all that is needed.

* Continue to turn the eggs until the chicks hatch. The eggs should be turned until the chicks hatch, which typically takes between 25 and 35 days.

Hatching

* The chicks will begin to pip, or break out of the shells, a few days before they hatch. When this happens, increase the humidity in the incubator to 65-70%. This will help to soften the shells and make it easier for the chicks to hatch.

* The chicks will typically hatch within a day or two of pipping. Once they have hatched, remove the chicks from the incubator and place them in a brooder.

Brooding

* The chicks will need to be kept in a brooder for several weeks until they are fully feathered and able to regulate their own body temperature. The ideal brooder temperature is between 90-95°F (32-35°C).

* The chicks will also need to be fed a special diet. You can purchase chick starter feed from a pet store or online.

* Once the chicks are fully feathered and able to regulate their own body temperature, they can be moved to a cage.

Raising the Chicks

* Parrot chicks require a lot of attention and care. They will need to be fed several times a day and their cage will need to be cleaned regularly.

* It is important to socialize the chicks with humans so they become friendly and well-behaved. You can do this by handling the chicks regularly and talking to them in a gentle voice.

* Parrot chicks can take several months to a year to reach adulthood. Be patient and provide the chicks with the love and care they need to grow into healthy and happy parrots.
