How to Tell Between Male & Female Doves

There are a few different ways to tell between male and female Betta fish.

1. Fins: Male Bettas typically have longer, more elaborate fins than females. Their caudal (tail) fins are often longer and more flowing, and their dorsal (top) fins are often larger and more pointed. Female Bettas, on the other hand, have shorter, more rounded fins.

2. Body Shape: Male Bettas are typically larger and more muscular than females. They have a more triangular body shape, with a wider head and a narrower tail. Female Bettas are smaller and more slender, with a more rounded body shape.

3. Coloring: Male Bettas are typically more colorful than females. They may have bright colors, such as red, blue, green, or yellow, and they may have iridescent scales. Female Bettas, on the other hand, are often duller in color. They may have brown, gray, or olive-green scales.

4. Behavior: Male Bettas are typically more aggressive than females. They may flare their fins and puff out their gills to intimidate other fish. Female Bettas are more peaceful and less likely to fight.

It's important to note that these are just general guidelines. There is some variation between individual Bettas, so not every male and female Betta will fit these descriptions perfectly. However, these tips can help you to get a good idea of whether a Betta is male or female.
