2. Cut the lumber.

* Cut 2 sheets of plywood into 4 equal sections, each measuring 2 feet by 4 feet.
3. Build the frame.
* Lay out the 2x4s on a flat surface in the shape of a square, with the 8-foot sides facing up.
* Attach the 2x4s together using 2” nails, making sure that the corners are square.
* Reinforce the corners of the frame by adding additional 2x4s diagonally across each corner.
4. Attach the plywood panels.
* Position the plywood panels on the inside of the frame, making sure that the edges of the panels are flush with the edges of the 2x4s.
* Attach the plywood panels to the frame using ½” self-tapping screws, driven through the plywood and into the 2x4s.
5. Add the chicken or hardware wire.
* Cut a piece of chicken or hardware wire that is large enough to cover the entire front and back of the pen, plus an additional 12 inches on each side.
* Attach the chicken or hardware wire to the frame using 2” nails, making sure that the wire is pulled tight.
6. Add the D-rings and carabiner clips.
* Attach 8 D-rings to the top of the frame, evenly spaced along the length of the pen.
* Attach 8 carabiner clips to the bottom of the frame, evenly spaced along the length of the pen.
7. Add roofing material (optional).
* If you live in an area with heavy rain or snow, you may want to add roofing material to the top of the pen to keep the ducks dry.
* You can use any type of roofing material you like, such as shingles, tar paper, or metal roofing.
8. Paint or stain the pen (optional).
* You can paint or stain the pen to protect it from the weather and to make it look more attractive.
