Company Announcement
On July 8, 2021, Nom Nom issued a voluntary recall notice to customers following a supplier recall by Tyson Foods Inc. The recall involves specific lots of our Chicken Cuisine cat food that may contain chicken sourced from Tyson’s supply chain, which is under a broad Listeria monocytogenes recall.
The affected lots are:
- 18700
- 18714
- 18728
- 18742
- 18756
- 18770
The lot number is printed at the bottom of each bag label. If you possess any of these lots, please discontinue use immediately, photograph the bag, and contact us at [email protected] or call 415‑991‑0669.
Reason for the Voluntary Recall
After consulting with the FDA and following Tyson’s USDA‑issued recall, we have determined that some chicken used in our product could be contaminated. This precautionary action aligns with our commitment to food safety and the health of your cat.
Key points:
- If the product has already been consumed and no more is in your possession, there is no ongoing risk.
- No other Nom Nom dog or cat foods are affected.
Risk to Health
We have received no reports of illness in cats or owners linked to this product. Listeria monocytogenes is a bacterium that can grow in refrigerated foods. In pets, it typically causes mild gastrointestinal signs—diarrhea or vomiting—though severe cases can occur. For humans, listeriosis is most serious for the elderly, immunocompromised individuals, and pregnant women.
See the FDA fact sheet for detailed information.
What Customers Should Do
If you locate any of the listed lots, stop feeding it immediately and dispose of the product in a sealed trash container. To help us track affected items, please reply to this email with a photo of the bag and an estimate of how many units remain, or call us at 415‑991‑0669.
