Muffin – Ragdoll Kitten of the Month: A Heartwarming Adoption Journey

Muffin was born on April 2nd. 2015 and is registered under the name Mckenzie. He was given this name by his breeder Brigette of Chiffondolls. We were very fortunate to get Muffin from her, and I would greatly recommend Brigette to anyone who wishes to adopt a Ragdoll from Montreal, Quebec. She called him Lovebug with affection and we decided to call our sweet boy Lovebug too. He came home to us at 4 months of age, on the 31st. of July 2015. When I opened his pet carrier to take him out, his little head was out before we knew it. He was purring and I gently laid him on his bed. But Muffin simply jumped out and decided to explore the house. Within a couple of hours, he had checked the rooms out. Played with the toys and was relaxing on his cat tree.

Muffin is actually my 14 year old daughter’s cat. She inherits her love for cats from her maternal side of the family. I had 2 Siamese cats while growing up. After I got married, my sister adopted a Persian cat and when she passed away we did not have any cats in the family for a long time. 4 years back my niece adopted another Persian cat who is loved by the entire family. So how did we land up with a Ragdoll ? My husband wanted a Siamese and my daughter wanted a Persian cat. We had never thought about adopting any other cat and during our search for breeders, we came across Ragdoll cat breeders and were mesmerized by these adorable cats with a gentle loving nature.

Muffin is very affectionate and loving, therefore the name Lovebug. He is looking at us while we reverse our car from the driveway to go out and is waiting for us at the door when we return. He loves to play with teasers and Mylar balls. He is very naughty indeed, in his playful mood he will come and paw at your feet or hands, till he gets your attention. You will see him chasing his tail, checking under covers for any moving object or simply pawing under the doors. He is a seal bi-color Ragdoll, with the most adorable face. He is as cute as a muffin, my daughter would say and she finally changed his name to Muffin.

Muffin – Ragdoll Kitten of the Month: A Heartwarming Adoption Journey

Muffin is strictly an indoor cat. He loves to look outside the patio door. Hear the chirping of the birds and watch the neighbours children play in the backyard. His favourite pass time is catching flies. He can spend hours chasing a fly inside the house and won’t rest till he has caught it. He loves to go on drives with us in the car, and I love to watch his expressions as they change with the change of scenery outside.

To our disappointment, Muffin does not like to sleep in our bed. He prefers to sleep under the bed most of the night and then climbs on our bed to sleep at a comfortable distance during the wee hours of the morning. He naps usually right on top of his cat tree and now at times in one of the two cat beds that we bought for him. His next favourite spot is his S shape scratcher, which is only used by him for naps, or when he is in his “do not disturb” mood. Muffin likes to be on his own, for a couple of hours each day. It’s difficult to resist cuddling such a cute cat, but we have learnt to respect his privacy. This has been the most difficult task for us. We look forward to spending many, many happy years with him.
