Kenzie the Ragdoll: Meet Your New Cuddle Companion
Kenzie – Ragdoll of the Week
I am lucky enough to live next door to a cat lover. My neighbor Rocky was the proud owner of a 6 month old female Ragdoll named London and Rocky told me that the breeder (Claire) had another litter, I jumped at the chance to own a cuddle rug all of my own.
I had loved the breed ever since my mum took me to my very first Cat Show when I was about 8 years old. Ragdolls were my dream cat from that day forward.
Kenzie was the runt of the litter and was not expected to live, that made him even more amazing in my eyes, and I fell in love with him the second I saw him. This tiny little bundle of love.
He was born on 5 April 2015 and I saw that as an omen that he was meant to be mine as my other cat Seda (a Russian Blue) was born 25 April 2010. Kenzie was a mere 8 weeks old and very small when I got him, all bony hips, big blue eyes and gangly legs, the perfect boy in my eyes.
His very first toy was a little yellow soft ball, he would pick it up in his mouth and carry it everywhere. No matter what expensive toy I got him, the ball won every time. Even to this day, ball is his favourite toy. He brings it to bed with him every night.
I was a bit worried what my parents were going to say when I first got Kenzie as I live alone, on a single wage, with one cat already. But I really had nothing to worry about, Kenzie won them over within seconds. In fact, my boy seems to have made my dad his best friend, when dad visits, I no longer exist and its straight to my dad’s welcoming lap.
I’m not 100% sure why he got the name Kenzie but when I saw him I knew that’s who he was, I could have something to do with to my Scottish ancestry. It could also have something to do with the fact that in Gaelic, Kenzie means Handsome, the bright one and that suits him to a T.
When my friends visit, the routine now seems to be say hi to me and then search out Kenzie for a long fur cuddle.
Kenzie’s favourite thing to do is to wake me up at 4am just to say good morning, very cute but very tiring. But he can do no wrong in my eyes, he can wake me up just to meow ‘love you mum’ whenever he likes.
I have never had a cat with such an amazing personality before, he is loving and affectionate yet wildly independent. He certainly is his own cat, but totally my boy. If a stranger approaches him, he runs straight to me. When I get home from work, my boy is sitting, or more often than not, laying at the door, waiting for me to come inside.
Living alone, it really makes me feel happy, to be welcomed home by such a sweet face, and kitty kisses.
He really is my pride and joy, in fact my dream cat, and I could never imagine my life without him, he is my child and will have a place in my heart for eternity.
