Enjoy Your Cat: A Guide to Fun, Healthy Care
Cats are wonderful companions. They are quiet and very low maintenance. Cats like dogs can relieve your stress after a long hard day. They curl up in your lap and show you their affection. Cats also have a long life span. A cat can live for as long as 20 years.
Not only do they relieve stress but, cats can improve your heart health. Studies have shown that a cat can reduce heart disease which may sometimes lead to strokes. Cats keep you occupied so there is no time for loneliness. Cats also believe it or not prevent allergies. If children are exposed to cats within the first few years of life their bodies will develop an immunity to cat allergies.
So how do you have fun playing with your cat? Use your imagination. Cats do not require much space to have fun. Does your cat have a favorite toy? If yes, hide it away maybe, under some towels or blankets and let him find it. You can make it interesting by adding catnip inside the toy. You can also blow bubbles and let him pop them. Make sure the bubbles are non toxic.
Cats love challenges. Why not challenge him to a treasure hunt with his treats. Hide them in places you believe your cat won’t find them. You might be pleasantly surprised.
Care for your cat by providing a fresh clean litterbox. Fresh clean water and a well balanced diet. Give your cat a scratch pole to prevent them from scratching your window curtains or furniture. This also helps keep their nails maintained. Also keep your cat well groomed. Cats have a lot of fur so vacuum your house or apartment regularly. This will prevent dust. Grooming will also prevent your cat from getting hairballs.
Always provide a safe place for your cat. You might want to microchip him if you believe he might roam outside. This will help you to locate and find him if he is ever lost.
Cats have their own personalities. Know your cat. If you think there is something wrong in his behavior consult your vet. You want to keep him happy and healthy so that he can be around for the next 20 years or more.
