What is Trilling in Cats?
Trilling is a specific type of vocalization made by cats. It generally sounds like a rolling ‘rrr’ sound and may often sound to human ears a lot like a bird chirping. Cats sometimes engage in trilling while watching prey through a window, but may trill to express other behaviors and emotions. While not entirely known, cat trills could also indicate excitement, stress, fear, affection, contentment, annoyance, or any range of positive or negative emotions. For instance, they will often trill right when catching the red dot, even after a long and intensive play session. In any case, cats can express several moods when trilling.
