Cat Turns 15 in Glamorous Quinceañera Celebration

A fabulous cat had an extravagant quinceanera to celebrate her 15th birthday, and the festivities have gone viral!

In Hispanic and Latin American cultures, quinceaneras are big celebrations. I mean, really big! Especially the dresses! They’re the celebration of a young girl’s 15th birthday, which is traditionally recognized as the crossover from child to young womanhood.

Quinceaneras involve the most dazzling decorations and the fluffiest princess dresses you’ll ever find. One beloved cat in Charlotte, North Carolina, was made an Internet star when her family posted pictures of her kitty quinceanera.

You read that right. They threw a quinceanera for their cat, Luna! Possibly pushing the title of crazy cat family to the edge, the Olavarria family celebrated their orange tabby cat Luna’s 15th birthday in style, complete with the fancy dress and glitzy crown. Luna wore the outfit like a boss, and enjoyed all the attention thrown her way as she chowed down on her birthday can of tuna.

Angel Olavarria, Luna’s owner, said by putting the pictures on Reddit and Facebook, they could have hilarious memories later when Luna was gone. The social media posts went viral, and now Luna is purring around the house like a Kardashian.

Olavarria said they found Luna as a stray when she was just a kitten, and she has outlived all their other pets. Calling that reason for celebration for such a milestone birthday, he claims that it was obvious she deserved a surprise quinceanera celebration.
