What Medication Can I Use on a Cat to Heal Cut?

Neomycin and polymyxin B sulfates: These are topical antibiotics that can be applied directly to the wound to help prevent infection. Bacitracin: This is another topical antibiotic that can be used to treat minor cuts and abrasions. Triple antibiotic ointment: This ointment contains a combination of neomycin, polymyxin B sulfates, and bacitracin. It is a good choice for treating minor cuts and abrasions. Silver sulfadiazine cream: This cream contains silver, which has antimicrobial properties. It is used to treat burns, cuts, and other skin wounds. Hydrocortisone cream: This cream can be used to help relieve itching and inflammation around the wound. Pain medication: If your cat is in pain, you may need to give them pain medication. Acetaminophen (Tylenol) and ibuprofen (Advil) are not safe for cats, so talk to your veterinarian about which pain medication is right for your cat.

Before applying any medication to your cat's wound, be sure to clean the wound thoroughly with warm water and soap. Gently pat the wound dry and then apply the medication as directed by your veterinarian.
