How to Make Homemade Cat Spray Odor Remover
Ingredients:
- 1 cup of distilled white vinegar
- 2 cups of water
- 1 tablespoon of baking soda
- 10-20 drops of your preferred essential oil (optional)
Equipment:
- Spray bottle
- Measuring cups
- Spoon
- Funnel (if your spray bottle has a narrow opening)
Instructions:
1. In a large bowl or container, mix the distilled white vinegar and water.
2. Add the baking soda and stir until it's completely dissolved.
3. Add the essential oil, if you choose to use one. Stir gently to blend.
4. Using the funnel, pour the mixture into the spray bottle.
5. Shake the spray bottle well before each use.
To Use:
1. Identify the area where your cat has sprayed.
2. Test a small area of the surface with the odor remover to ensure it doesn't cause any discoloration or damage.
3. Once you've confirmed that the odor remover is safe for the surface, spray it directly onto the cat spray stain.
4. Blot up any excess liquid with a clean cloth or paper towel.
5. Allow the treated area to air dry.
6. Repeat steps 2-5 if necessary until the odor is completely eliminated.
Tips:
- Always test the odor remover on a small inconspicuous area before using it on a larger surface.
- If you're using essential oils, be sure to dilute them properly to avoid causing irritation to your cat.
- If the cat spray has been on the surface for a long time, you may need to use a more concentrated solution of white vinegar and water.
- For stubborn stains, you can also make a paste by mixing equal parts baking soda and water. Apply the paste to the stain, let it sit for several minutes, and then scrub with a soft brush before wiping it away.
- For best results, clean up the cat spray as soon as possible after it has occurred.
