Build a Mini Indoor Garden for Your Cat: Easy DIY Guide
If your indoor cat always has her eyes on the outdoors, but you're not in a situation where you can let her wander, give her the next best thing: a little patch of grass that's all her own! With the proper care, you'll be able to keep this grass green and growing for a long time.
Things You'll Need:
- New litter box
- Litter tray
- Potting soil
- Sod
- Knife
- Electric drill and drill bit
- Fun flair
Step One:
With your electric drill and drill bit, create 6-8 drainage holes in the bottom of your litter box.
Step Two:
Roll out the sod. (It helps to either do this outside or over a plastic drop cloth as it can get messy!)
Step Three:
Cut sod to the approximate shape of your litter box.
Step Four:
Fill litter box with potting soil. Leave 3 or so inches at the top.
Step Five:
Fit your sod into the litter box. You may need to tuck the edges under or mold it to get the right fit.
Step Six:
Spray the grass to give it some fresh water.
Step Seven:
Place litter box on top of litter tray and then add some cuteness! We added pinwheels (kitty loves to bat them) and some toy mice.
Water grass every few days or as it seems to get dry.
