How to Put a Cat Harness
Step 1: Choosing the Right Harness
- Cats don't like feeling restricted.
- Look for a harness constructed with lightweight mesh or soft, breathable material.
Step 2: Training
- Cats hate being held against their will.
- Start by leaving the harness somewhere your cat hangs out.
- Let your cat sniff it and become familiar with it.
Step 3: Putting the Harness On
- Put your cat on the ground and kneel down next to them.
- Drape the harness over their head, positioning the neck hole around their neck.
- Fasten the neck buckle.
- Fasten the belly buckle.
Step 4: Making Adjustments
- There should be enough space for you to fit two fingers between the harness and your cat's body.
Step 5: Adding a Leash
- Don't rush attaching a leash. Make sure your cat feels secure and comfortable.
Tips:
- Make the process as enjoyable as possible by bribing your cat with treats.
- If your cat starts acting up or gets distracted, stop and try again later.
- Don't force the harness on your cat. If they resist, try again another time.
- If you can, practice indoors at first, rather than going straight outdoors.
