How to Play With a Baby Bearded Dragon

1. Handling

- Get your bearded dragon used to being held. Start by holding your bearded dragon for short periods each day, around 5-10 minutes. As your bearded dragon becomes more comfortable, you can gradually increase the amount of time you hold them.

- Support your bearded dragon's body. When you hold your bearded dragon, be sure to support their entire body, including their tail. Never grab a bearded dragon by the tail, as this can cause injury.

- Let your bearded dragon explore. Allow your bearded dragon to move around freely in your hands. They may want to climb up your arm or perch on your shoulder.

2. Touch

- Pet your bearded dragon. Bearded dragons enjoy being petted, but be sure to pet them gently. Avoid petting their head or tail, as these areas are sensitive.

- Scratch your bearded dragon's belly. Many bearded dragons love having their belly scratched. Try scratching your bearded dragon's belly and see if they start to relax and close their eyes.

- Offer your bearded dragon a massage. Give your bearded dragon a massage by gently rubbing their body with your fingers. This can help to improve their circulation and digestion.

3. Playtime

- Provide your bearded dragon with toys. Bearded dragons enjoy playing with toys, such as balls, cat toys, and bells. You can also make your own bearded dragon toys by using items such as empty cardboard boxes or plastic bottles.

- Play hide-and-seek. Bearded dragons love to play hide-and-seek. Hide behind a piece of furniture or a blanket and then let your bearded dragon try to find you.

- Go for a walk. Take your bearded dragon for a walk outside on a leash. This is a great way for your bearded dragon to get some exercise and fresh air.

- Offer your bearded dragon a bath. Some bearded dragons enjoy taking a bath. Fill a sink or tub with lukewarm water and let your bearded dragon swim around. Be sure to supervise your bearded dragon at all times while they are in the water.

4. Interactive Play

- Use your hands to play with your bearded dragon. Move your hands around in front of your bearded dragon and let them chase them. You can also try to teach your bearded dragon to follow your finger.

- Use a laser pointer to play with your bearded dragon. Bearded dragons love to chase laser pointers. Keep the laser pointer moving so your bearded dragon doesn't get bored.

- Offer your bearded dragon a piece of food. Hold a piece of food in front of your bearded dragon and let them try to catch it. This is a great way to get your bearded dragon moving and entertained.

- Play fetch with your bearded dragon. Some bearded dragons enjoy playing fetch. Throw a ball or toy for your bearded dragon and see if they will bring it back to you.

5. Safety First!

- Always supervise your bearded dragon when they are out of their enclosure. Bearded dragons can easily get lost or injured if they are left alone.

- Be sure to provide your bearded dragon with plenty of hydration. Offer your bearded dragon fresh water every day and mist their enclosure regularly.

- Keep your bearded dragon away from predators. Bearded dragons are prey animals and can be eaten by other pets, such as cats and dogs.

- Take your bearded dragon to the vet for regular checkups. This will help to ensure that your bearded dragon is healthy and happy.
