- Whale eye (white of the eye visible): When dogs feel stressed or threatened, they might show the whites of their eyes.
3. Mouth:
- Relaxed, tongue out: Your dog may be feeling comfortable and relaxed.
- Tight lips, teeth exposed: This may be a sign of aggression or a warning.
- Yawning: Your dog might be indicating discomfort, stress, or a playful mood.
4. Tail:
- Held high and wagging: Generally displays confidence, excitement, or happiness.
- Held low and wagging: Can indicate uncertainty, apprehension, or a submission signal.
- Tail between the legs: Often indicates fear, anxiety, or submission.
5. Posture:
- Standing tall with erect posture: May suggest confidence or alertness.
- Crouched with body lowered: Your dog may be preparing to pounce, play, or feeling uncertain.
- Rolling over (belly up): This is usually a submissive, playful, or non-threatening posture.
It's important to note that body language alone may not give a conclusive understanding of your dog's emotions, as context and individual personality traits must also be considered. Observing multiple cues together and gradually learning your dog's unique expressions will help you build better communication and understanding with your canine companion.
