Do Dogs Feel Jealousy?
Aggressive Behaviour: Dogs may become possessive of their owners or toys and snap or growl at other animals or people who show interest. While this behaviour may seem like aggression, it is jealousy's outcome.
Attention Seeking: Many dogs act out or make excessive demands for petting and cuddles when they feel overlooked or threatened by a new person or animal in their environment.
Destructive Behaviour: Jealous dogs may start chewing or scratching furniture, your favourite objects, or things owned by the person or thing they are jealous of.
Withdrawing: Some dogs become sullen or withdrawn when they are jealous. They may refuse to eat or play or try to avoid the owner altogether.
Staring: Dogs may intensely gaze at the person they are jealous of or may stare at their owners whenever they come in contact with the person or animal.
Whining and barking: Dogs may express their jealousy with continuous whining and barking at the objects of their jealousy.
Dogs may become jealous of other pets, children, or even new romantic partners that they sense are taking attention away from them. It's important to reassure them with the same love and positive reinforcement despite changes in the house.
