Miraculous Detroit Rescue: Chow Mix Saved After Head Stuck in Plastic Jar
Dog With Head Stuck In Jar Rescued In Detroit
The Michigan Humane Society received a call about a dog in distress in an abandoned home in Detroit. When rescuers arrived they found Olive, a 3 year old Chow mix with a plastic jar stuck on her head. She was gasping for air when they arrived so they cut holes in the plastic to help her breathe. The Human Society says this dog could have easily suffocated or starved to death if it wasn’t for the tip of a caring neighbor.
Getting her out of the home was tough. They chased her through the abandoned home until they were able to grab her with a control stick. At that point she had no idea what was going on so she wasn’t very happy said the rescuers. Once they got her back to the shelter they were able to remove the jar with some lubricant.
After arriving at the shelter she was checked over by staff and began treatment for heartworm. She’s not a happy, healthy dog looking for her forever home. She’s available for adoption through the MHS Detroit Center for Animal Care.
