November is National Pet Diabetes Month, and it’s important to recognize the symptoms so you can make sure your dog or cat is being taken care of properly.

Just like with humans, pets are vulnerable to Type I and Type II diabetes. According to the ASPCA, diabetes is caused by the “lack of hormone insulin or an inadequate response to insulin.” There is no one reason why this occurs, it could be because of pet obesity, genes or autoimmune disease.
