How The Honest Kitchen Foods Benefit My Dogs – Insights from a Chewy Influencer

In my recent Instinct review I mentioned that I feed my boys a mostly homemade diet, but that I also keep a box or two of The Honest Kitchen foods around as backup. I enjoy preparing food for my dogs but sometimes, after a long day, I don’t have the motivation to spend much time in the kitchen. Other times I forget to defrost meat for the dogs’ food in time. It’s times like these that having some type of backup food comes in handy.

Because those of you who know my oldest dog, Kitsune, probably know, skipping a meal is not an option!
As you can probably guess by the fact that I prefer to feed my dogs homemade foods, I’m not altogether trusting of commercial dog food brands. I feel like, for many pet food companies, it’s all about the bottom line – making money. They (in my opinion) are not transparent enough about the pet foods they are selling, and I’m the type of person who likes to know exactly what it is I’m feeding my animal family members.
That being said, I don’t think it’s hard to understand why I’d feel drawn to a company called The Honest Kitchen. A company who states on their website that their “main ingredient is truth”. It’s kind of sad that, these days, a company can differentiate themselves from others just by being honest with consumers about their products.
We received a 30 day supply of The Honest Kitchen beef recipe grain free dog food from Chewy.com, in exchange for our honest review. As always, we strive to promote only pet products that we stand behind and feel that our readers will be interested in.
But it’s not just their honesty that led me to start feeding The Honest kitchen to my boys. Quality matters too, of course! It matters a lot. The Honest Kitchen foods are made from 100% human grade ingredients from reliable sources. 67% of the ingredients in The Honest Kitchen foods are sourced from North America. All suppliers, no matter where they are located, confirm to strict standards ensuring that they are free of dangerous chemical additives. The Honest Kitchen foods do not contain by-products or fillers, preservatives, 4D meats, corn, wheat, soy, Chinese ingredients, or GMO ingredients.

These are the main reasons why I decided to give The Honest Kitchen a try with my own dogs. Now I always keep it in stock at our house, not only for the reasons mentioned above, but also because my dogs both love it, and do well on it. That’s a somewhat tall order when it comes to my two boys. Fenrir has always been a super picky eater, and will turn his nose up and refuse to eat a lot of different types of foods. Kit will happily eat almost anything, but he has a very sensitive stomach and quite a few food allergies. Finding a high quality commercial dog food that both my boys can and will eat isn’t an easy task, believe me. Luckily The Honest Kitchen foods fit the bill.
If you’re interested in learning more about our experiences with The Honest Kitchen stay tuned, because we’ll be doing a couple more posts about them throughout the next month. If you want to jump right in and try The Honest Kitchen foods with your pet, you can check them out over on Chewy.com. These posts are all graciously sponsored by Chewy, as I mentioned above, but the awesome thing is that I have actually been feeding The Honest Kitchen foods to my boys off and on for years now.

My integrity, and that of my blog, is something that’s very important to me. I turn down product sponsorships weekly because I’m committed to only help promote pet products that I truly feel like I can stand behind – products that I feel safe using with my own beloved pets. I can happily report that The Honest Kitchen’s products fall into that category.
