DIY Dog Eye Wash: Safe Homemade Solution for Clean, Healthy Eyes
Things You'll Need
One Pint Jar and Lid
Sterilized Water
Non-iodized Table Salt
Eye Dropper
Warning
If your dog's eyes don't improve take him to the vet immediately.
Eye drops are a safe way to flush debris from your dog's eyes.
Just like humans, dogs use tears to flush dirt and debris out of their eyes. Sometimes tears aren't enough to clean out certain debris, or debris caused by an allergic reaction or infection. Eye drops help the tears clean the eyes in these circumstances. If your dog is suffering from a condition that affects her eyes, you can use this simple solution to clean her eyes two or three times daily.
Step 1
Sterilize the jar and lid in boiling water for at least a minute. Let them cool for at least 10 minutes.
Step 2
Pour the sterilized water, a product that can be bought at most pharmacies, into the jar. It should fill the jar up to about 2" from the top.
Step 3
And 1/2 teaspoon of non-iodized table salt to the water. The salt should be pure salt, with no other compounds added.
Step 4
Fasten the lid and shake the mixture to dissolve the salt.
Step 5
Use the eye dropper to administer four to six drops in each of your dogs eyes.
