Choosing the Right Antibiotics for Dog Bite Infections

Dog bites are a common injury that often result in infection due to the bacteria and viruses that dogs carry in their saliva. Antibiotics are commonly used to treat dog bites, and a doctor can advise you on methods of preventing and treating infection.

Duration

If you are prescribed antibiotics to prevent an infection, you will likely be advised to take the medication for seven days. If you are prescribed antibiotics once signs of an infection are present, you will likely take the medication for as little as 10 days or as long as two weeks.
