Episode 7: How To Cope With Pet Allergies

Living with a pet allergy can be challenging, but there are a number of things you can do to manage your symptoms and still enjoy your pets.

1. Avoid contact with allergens.

- The most effective way to manage pet allergies is to avoid contact with allergens as much as possible. This means keeping pets out of bedrooms and off of furniture, and avoiding contact with pet hair, dander, and saliva.

2. Keep your home clean.

- Regularly vacuum and dust your home, especially in areas where your pets spend the most time. Use a HEPA filter on your vacuum cleaner, and wash bedding and curtains in hot water.

3. Give your pet a bath regularly.

- Bathing your pet once a week can help remove allergens from their fur and skin.

4. Use an air purifier.

- An air purifier can remove allergens from the air, helping to improve air quality and reduce your symptoms.

5. Use over-the-counter medications.

- Over-the-counter medications, such as antihistamines and decongestants, can help relieve some of the symptoms of pet allergies.

6. Consider immunotherapy.

- Immunotherapy, also known as allergy shots, is a long-term treatment that can help reduce your sensitivity to pet allergens over time.

If you have a pet allergy, it's important to see an allergist to get an accurate diagnosis and to discuss the best treatment options for you.

Remember, you can still enjoy your pets even if you have a pet allergy. By taking steps to manage your symptoms, you can live a happy and healthy life with yourfurry friends.
