Are Citrus Fruits Bad For Dogs?

Citrus fruits, such as oranges, lemons, and grapefruit, contain citric acid, which can cause stomach upset in dogs. In addition, the essential oils found in citrus peels can be toxic to dogs if ingested in large amounts. Symptoms of citrus poisoning in dogs can include vomiting, diarrhea, lethargy, and seizures.

While small amounts of citrus fruit are unlikely to cause serious harm, it is best to avoid giving your dog citrus fruits altogether. If your dog does eat a piece of citrus fruit, monitor them for any signs of illness and contact your veterinarian if you have any concerns.

Here are some other foods that are bad for dogs:

* Chocolate

* Coffee

* Macadamia nuts

* Grapes

* Raisins

* Onions

* Garlic

* Chives

* Xylitol (a sweetener found in some chewing gum and candy)

If you are unsure whether a particular food is safe for your dog, always consult with your veterinarian.
