What Over-the-Counter Drug Can You Give a Dog for Arthritis?
Aspirin is the ONLY non-prescription drug that can be used in dogs for arthritis. However, it is EXTREMELY important to speak with your veterinarian for the proper dosing and length of time it can be given to your dog. Do not give your dog any over-the-counter drug without consulting your veterinarian. Aspirin can cause serious side effects, including stomach ulcers and bleeding. NEVER give your dog ibuprofen or acetaminophen, as these can be fatal to dogs.
