How to Kill Insects in Dog Hair

1. Brush your dog thoroughly: Use a flea comb or a fine-toothed comb to brush your dog from head to toe, paying special attention to areas where fleas tend to congregate, such as the base of the tail, behind the ears, and around the belly. This will help remove any adult fleas and eggs from the dog's fur.

2. Use a flea shampoo: Bathe your dog in a flea shampoo that contains an active ingredient like pyrethrin, permethrin, or fipronil. Follow the instructions on the shampoo bottle for proper dilution and application. Be sure to rinse your dog thoroughly to remove all traces of shampoo.

3. Apply a flea and tick treatment: After bathing your dog, apply a flea and tick treatment as directed by your veterinarian. These products typically come in the form of topical liquids, sprays, collars, or oral medications.

4. Treat your home: In addition to treating your dog, you should also treat your home to prevent re-infestation. Vacuum carpets, furniture, and any other areas where your dog spends time. Be sure to dispose of the vacuum bag or canister immediately after use. You can also use a flea spray or fogger to kill any remaining fleas and eggs in your home.

5. Repeat the treatment: Most flea and tick treatments require reapplication every few weeks or months to remain effective. Be sure to follow the directions on the product label for the recommended treatment schedule.
