Transform an Old Sweatshirt into a No‑Sew Dog Sweatshirt in 20 Minutes

If you've got an old sweatshirt laying around, you can easily refashion it into a stylish sweatshirt for your dog. It'll help keep the chill away during those cold-weather walks. Bonus: it's an easy no-sew project that takes less than 20 minutes!

Things You'll Need:

• Old sweatshirt
  
• Scissors
  
• Ruler or measuring tape
  
• Chalk
  

Tip: Choose a sweatshirt with fabric that has some stretch to it. For larger dogs, you could use sweatpants instead of a sweatshirt.

Step 1

Cut the sleeve off the sweatshirt.

Step 2

Turn the sleeve seam side up. This will be the underside of the sweatshirt.

Step 3

Roll the sleeve cuff down. It'll act as a turtleneck for your pup.

Step 4

Measure how far below the cuff you'd like to cut the armholes, and mark the spots with chalk. It may be helpful to hold the sleeve up to your dog first for more accurate measurements. For reference, I cut mine 4 inches below the cuff for a dachshund.

Step 5

Pinch the fabric so you don't cut through both sides of the sleeve. Cut a 1-inch horizontal slit across each mark. Then cut a 1-inch vertical slit to create an X-shaped hole in each mark.

Note: You may need to cut larger slits depending on your dog's leg size.

Time to get dressed! Just slide the sleeve cuff over your puppy's head and pull its legs through the holes underneath. Now, who's ready for a W-A-L-K?
