Eliminate Fleas Instantly: Safe & Effective Dog Treatment

Things You'll Need

• Cotton balls

• Mineral oil

• Bathtub

• Sprayer or plastic pitcher

• Sulfur based dog shampoo

• Flea comb

• Blow dryer

• Soft dog brush

Warning

Use caution not to burn the dog with the blow dryer. Put the dryer on the warm setting, not hot. Blow the air on your hand or skin every few minutes to monitor the heat.

Dogs can have an allergic reaction to any shampoo.

Do not use sulfur based shampoos on cats.

Flea bites cause your dog to itch and scratch, and often cause skin reactions. Fleas carry tape worms, which can be transferred to the dog if it bites or ingests the fleas. Here is how to kill fleas instantly on a dog. You will also need to treat the dog's bedding, your home and your yard to ensure that the dog does not become reinfested.

Bathing

Step 1

Place a piece of cotton ball in each of the dog's ears to keep water out of the ear canal.

Step 2

Put one drop of mineral oil in each of the dog's eyes. This will protect the eyes if any shampoo gets in them.

Step 3

Put the dog in a bathtub. Thoroughly wet the dog with warm water using a sprayer or plastic pitcher. Take care not to spray water into the dog's ears or nose.

Step 4

Lather the dog with sulfur based dog shampoo, starting at the head and working your way down. Do not let the shampoo get in the dog's eyes.

Step 5

Leave the lather on the dog for about five minutes. During this time, massage the dog, working up the lather and making sure to get the feet, tail and entire body.

Rinsing

Step 1

Rinse the dog's head with warm water, being careful not to get shampoo in the dog's eyes.

Step 2

Rinse the neck and work your way down the dog's back, rinsing the entire tail. Lift the tail and rinse the anal area.

Step 3

Rinse the dog's sides and underbelly, always working down the dog's body. Be sure to get underneath the front and back legs, working your way down the legs.

Step 4

Rinse the feet. Let all the water go down the drain so the dog is not standing in soapy water. Rinse the feet again, lifting them to get the bottoms and between the pads.

Step 5

Rub your hands over the entire dog to be sure there is no shampoo left. Any missed areas can cause the dog to itch.

Finishing

Step 1

Remove the cotton balls from the dog's ears.

Step 2

Use a flea comb to check the face for any fleas that may have hidden in ear edges and around the mouth and eyes.

Step 3

Dry the dog thoroughly and vigorously with a towel. Remove the dog from the tub.

Step 4

Brush against the direction of the dog's hair growth while directing the blow dryer in the same spot that you are brushing. This will remove any dead fleas that are still on the skin.
