How to Make Puppy Mush

Puppy mush can be an inexpensive and easy way to feed your puppies some whole foods to aid in their transition from puppy food to a more natural diet (always with the guidance of your vet). Puppies under eight months of age should be fed mush three to four times a day. After that, you can begin incorporating kibble into the mix.

Ingredients

* 2 cups cooked brown rice

* 2 cups water

* 1 lb of ground beef or turkey

* 1/2 cup of chopped carrots

* 1/2 cup of chopped broccoli

* 1/2 cup of chopped sweet potato

Instructions

1) Prepare some brown rice according to the package instructions to make puppy mush.

2) In a large saucepan, combine the rice, water, ground beef or turkey, carrots, broccoli, and sweet potato.

3) Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 15-20 minutes.

4) Allow to cool slightly before serving.

If you find that your puppy is not eating everything, it may be helpful to add a little salt and pepper. However, do not add too much, as puppies can easily become dehydrated from too much salt.

Puppy mush can be stored in the fridge for about a week. However, it is best to feed it fresh and throw out any leftovers.

As your puppy gets older, you can begin increasing the amount of kibble you add to the mush until you are eventually feeding them kibble only.
