How to Make a Dog Carrier Sling

* 1/2 yard of sturdy fabric

* 1 yard of 1-inch wide webbing

* 2 metal D-rings

* 1/2-inch wide elastic

* Coordinating thread

* Scissors

* Sewing machine

Step 2: Cut your fabric.

Cut two rectangles from your fabric, each measuring 18 inches by 36 inches.

Step 3: Hem the edges of the fabric.

Fold over the raw edges of the fabric 1/4 inch and press. Fold over again 1/4 inch and press. Stitch in place.

Step 4: Sew the shoulder straps.

Cut two pieces of webbing each measuring 24 inches long.

Fold one end of each piece of webbing over 1 inch and stitch in place.

Thread the other end of each piece of webbing through a D-ring and back through the same D-ring. Stitch in place.

Repeat for the other shoulder strap.

Step 5: Sew the elastic loops.

Cut four pieces of elastic each measuring 6 inches long.

Fold one end of each piece of elastic over 1/2 inch and stitch in place.

Sew the other end of each piece of elastic to the inside edge of the sling (see diagram below).

Repeat for the other three pieces of elastic.

Step 6: Sew the sling together.

Place the two pieces of fabric right sides together.

Sew around the edges of the fabric using a 1/2-inch seam allowance, leaving a 4-inch opening on one side.

Turn the sling right side out through the opening.

Press flat and stitch the opening closed.

Step 7: Enjoy your new dog carrier sling!
