How to Groom a Shih-Poo

The Shih-Poo is a cross between a Shih Tzu and a Poodle, and they are known for their adorable teddy-bear looks. They have a double coat that can be either straight or wavy, and it requires regular brushing to prevent mats and tangles. Here are some tips on how to groom your Shih-Poo:

1. Brushing

The most important part of grooming a Shih-Poo is brushing their coat. You should brush your dog at least twice a week, and more often if their coat is long or curly. Use a soft brush with natural bristles, and brush in the direction of hair growth. Start at the head and work your way down to the tail, paying special attention to areas where mats and tangles are likely to form, such as the underarms and behind the ears.

2. Bathing

Shih-Poos don't need to be bathed very often, but they should be bathed when they are dirty or smelly. Use a dog shampoo and conditioner that is designed for sensitive skin. Rinse your dog thoroughly until all of the shampoo and conditioner have been removed.

3. Ear cleaning

4. Nail trimming

Use a dog nail clipper that is designed for small dogs. Trim the nails straight across, and avoid cutting into the quick, which is the pink part of the nail.

5. Teeth brushing

Shih-Poos are prone to dental problems, so it's important to brush their teeth regularly. Use a dog toothpaste and toothbrush that is designed for small dogs. Brush your dog's teeth at least twice a week, and more often if possible.
