Many people who are feeding dogs and cats have no idea about pain management. Many people have problems with it.
Pain management and pain treatment are not the same thing. There is a difference between the two.
We give treatment almost all the time but do not manage. This can be a problem. Here we hope to know about all this.
Read the article carefully.
★Types of pain.
Pain can be divided into three types based on a few factors.
1.Acute Pain: Acute pain is easily understood.Acute pain can be caused by injury, cuts or any other cause.
However, it does not last long.Animals respond very well to touching or stabbing pain sites.
2.Chronic Pain: Problems with this type of pain are more. This type of pain lasts much longer.Maybe sometimes more, sometimes less.
It is better to give medicine, but it starts again.Pain management is very important in the treatment of chronic pain.
3.Neuropathic Pain: This type of pain is due to nervous system problems. It can be caused by an injury, fall or excessive trauma.
This is called neuropathic pain. Many doctors say that neuropathic pain is completely drug dependent.
And it is never eradicated. Therefore, this type of pain must be treated with caution.
★Pain Management.
Always remember that, since the animal cannot speak, its physical and behavioral aspects need to be taken into consideration.
The physical changes are heart rate, respiration rate, breathing pattern, movement slow, reflex slow etc.
These can vary depending on the type of pain.On the contrary, the behavioral changes are anorexia, fatigue, movement problems, irritability, bite, lick or rub on the pain site etc behaviours can be seen.
Treatment of pain depends on two factors.
1.Medication: There are approximately three types of medications used depending on the pain.OPIOID (Morphin and others), NSAIDs(Acetaminophen,Meloxicam,Ibuprofen,Naproxen,Diclofenac,Ketoprofen etc) and Alpha2 Agonists (Xylazin,Medetomidine,Detomidine) Once in a while Prednisolone,Cortisol drugs are used as analgesics.
In this case, you must use the medicine as advised by the doctor.
Because, sometimes NSAIDs is not used.Such as Paracetamol,Ibuprofen,Naproxen are toxic for cats.Again,Alpha2 Agonists drugs have anesthetic properties.
If the disease is neuropathic, then medications and vitamins that work on the nerves should be given.
So understand the nature of pain and consult a doctor before giving painkillers.
2.Pain Site Management: It is very important to manage the injured area.If it breaks somewhere, that place will never be moved.
Care should be taken not to get hurt again.Give a warm shake to understand the state of pain, do not move.Compress the injured area.
This management system helps to relieve pain along with medications.
Hope you understand our topic today.Remember these ideas in any problem and keep your favorite animal healthy.Take action according to the nature of the illness and consult a doctor.
Thank You.
