When Can You Hold Puppies?

It is recommended to wait until puppies are around 8 weeks old before handling them. This gives the mother dog enough time to bond with her puppies, establish a nursing routine, and provide them with the necessary care and protection. Puppies also need time to develop their immune system and become strong enough to handle being held and interacted with.

During the first few weeks, it's best to observe the mother and puppies from a distance. You can provide care and attention to the mother dog, such as ensuring she has access to proper nutrition and a comfortable environment, without disturbing the puppies.

Once the puppies reach 8 weeks of age, you can begin to gently hold and interact with them. Start by handling them for short periods and逐渐increase the time as they get more comfortable. Be sure to support their head and body, and avoid squeezing or grabbing them. Remember to always be gentle and respectful when handling puppies, and allow the mother dog to be present if possible.
