How to Build a Backyard Dog Potty Area
- 4-6 wooden fence posts (or another sturdy material)
- 8-12 concrete blocks or cinder blocks
- Wire fence or chicken wire
- Zip ties or screws
- Shovel or garden spade
- Gravel or mulch
Instructions:
1. Choose a location for the dog potty area that is easily accessible for your dog, but not too close to your house or patio.
2. Determine the size of the potty area based on the size of your dog. A good rule of thumb is to make it about 3-4 feet wide and 6-8 feet long.
3. If desired, mark out the area using garden stakes or spray paint.
4. Dig holes for the fence posts, about 1-2 feet deep.
5. Set the fence posts in the holes and fill them with concrete. Let the concrete set according to the manufacturer's instructions.
6. Attach the wire fence or chicken wire to the posts using zip ties or screws.
7. Add a layer of gravel or mulch to the bottom of the potty area to help absorb urine and keep the area clean.
Tips:
- Make sure the fence is tall enough to prevent your dog from jumping out.
- If your dog is a chewer, you may want to use a material other than wood for the fence.
- You can add a roof or shade structure to the potty area to provide shelter from the sun and rain.
- Rinse the area with a hose from time to time to keep it clean.
- Use an enzyme cleaner to remove any stains from the ground.
