Is the Kangaroo Paw Fern Plant Safe for Pets?

Kangaroo Paws (_Anigozanthos species) are toxic to pets, both dogs and cats. All parts of the Kangaroo Paw plant can be toxic, but ingestion of the leaves and flowers tend to cause the most severe symptoms.

Symptoms of Kangaroo Paw poisoning in pets may include:

Gastrointestinal upset (vomiting, diarrhea)

Nausea

Abdominal pain

Increased urination (polyuria)

Increased thirst (polydipsia)

Lethargy

Muscle weakness

Paralysis

Difficulty breathing
