How to Raise Baby Canaries
2. Introduce the male and female canary to the nesting box. The male canary will court the female by singing and displaying his feathers. If the female is interested, she will enter the nesting box.
3. Wait for the female to lay her eggs. The female canary will typically lay four or five eggs, one each day. The eggs are very small, only about 1/2 inch long.
4. Feed the female canary. The female canary will need to eat a lot of food to produce her eggs. She should be given a variety of foods, including seeds, fruits, and vegetables.
5. Keep the nesting box clean. The nesting box should be cleaned every day to keep it free of dirt and debris.
6. Wait for the eggs to hatch. The eggs will hatch in about 13 days.
7. Feed the baby canaries. The baby canaries will need to be fed by their parents for several weeks.
8. Wean the baby canaries. The baby canaries will be ready to wean at about six weeks of age. At this point, they can be given the same food as the adult canaries.
9. Enjoy your new canaries!
