How to Make a Nesting Box for Female Cockatiel

Cockatiels are delightful birds that enjoy having a dedicated nesting space to lay their eggs and raise their young. Providing a suitable nesting box is crucial for their well-being and successful breeding. Here is a step-by-step guide on how to make a nesting box for female cockatiels:

Materials Needed:

- Piece of plywood or thick cardboard (approximately 12 inches x 12 inches)

- Wooden dowel (around 1 inch in diameter and 6 inches in length)

- Saw or box cutter

- Wood glue or strong adhesive

- Sandpaper

- Non-toxic paint (optional)

Step 1: Prepare the Plywood/Cardboard Base

- Choose a sturdy piece of plywood or thick cardboard that is roughly 12 inches by 12 inches. Ensure the material is non-toxic and safe for birds.

Step 2: Cut the Side Panels

- Cut four pieces of the same material (plywood or cardboard), each measuring approximately 12 inches x 6 inches. These will form the side panels of the nesting box.

Step 3: Assemble the Box

- Apply wood glue or a strong adhesive to one side of each side panel.

- Attach the side panels to the base, forming a rectangular box.
