Meet Layla & Gizmo: Ragdoll Kittens of the Month

I am the brand new parent of two delicious 24 week old ragdolls! I feel so lucky! I am so in love with their looks, antics and their disposition!

I was looking on the net one day, searching for a cat to fill the emptiness of recent years. I have had four pets during my lifetime, two living over 13 years each. They are sadly all gone. It was the best of times even though kids and career made having pets hectic at times! I came upon these amazing creatures and instantly loved everything I read.

My son is 23 now and has moved out. Close family have passed on and the silence was deafening. No longer! At first my husband resisted, but just one day of living with our babies and he has become an obsessed convert!

Layla and Gizmo are my always companions. They are brother and sister and love to play and tease each other. Layla is small, probably not going to be larger then 8 pounds or so once mature, while Gizmo is robust and large and is aka my purrbox! I think he might hit that 20 pound mark! They are seal points or so the breeder describes. I call them my chocolate wonders! I do not know much about the technicalities of color combinations but i know I love them!

They are so curious and gentle and social. How could anyone resist? It took a few weeks to get the whole house ” baby proofed”! We had to put plastic guards around the bannisters, remove plants (throw some out), remove breakable items and so on. All worth it! I am never alone and have Gizmo and Layla to cater to.

My husband and I have something to talk about, laugh about, and be amazed with. Layla and Gizmo have added so much that we are forever indebted and it has only been eight weeks! I am impressed how well they play with each other, the constant need to be near each other. When apart they cry for each other until they are once again together.. The love is real!! I also cannot believe how much they eat. Must be a growth spirt. We have bought them all the cool toys available but household objects still entice.

The house looks like a cat “disneyland”, tunnels, scratching posts, towers to climb, and many balls and mice to chase. Layla’s favourite is playing laser tag while Gizmo likes to  chase birds on a stick! Gizmo even loves to play fetch with me and has returned the ball 5 or 6 times in a row on multiple occasions. As Yoda would say “hint of dog in him I believe”!
