Apollo – The Ragdoll Kitten that Found His Forever Home

Apollo – The Ragdoll Kitten that Found His Forever HomeFound kitten leads to a Ragdoll love story….

We found a kitten in the middle of the road, in mid September of 2015. Poor little girl was thrown out, crawling across a fairly busy rural road. I nearly ran over her, almost not seeing her. I instantly turned the car around, thinking it couldnt be a kitten, maybe it was a possum. She was crying, malnourished, pitiful looking, starving. And when I hopped out of the car to get a closer look, she jumped up and ran (or rather leaped) into my arms. I had never owned a cat, and to be honest, had never had an interest much in them. But being the animal lover that I am, for any fur baby… Of course I took her home with me, fast forward to now… her name is mittens and she is the reason we found a breeder for apollo, our newest family member and a beautiful mitted ragdoll.

Mittens is a mixed breed, we are not really sure what she is, but has many of the same personality traits and lovable qualities of a ragdoll. One day I was looking through breed photos on the internet, trying to pinpoint what she could be, when i accidentally ran onto a site that featured ragdolls. I instantly fell in love and started reading all that I could about the breed. Oddly enough, when I took my mittens to the vet, he said he thought she was mixed with ragdoll. Apparently there was a breeder locally that had recently moved away. This only motivated me more to locate a ragdoll kitten bc my little mix breed mittens best personality traits came up as ragdoll traits. after searching for a month or so, wanting a kitten breeder a little closer to home, I found a breeder as close as possible… aarons ragdolls near knoxville tennessee. i got on the waiting list, and on Christmas day, apollo and his siblings were born. then right before valentine’s day my husband came home with my apollo. He is so loving and he and my kitten mittens get along famously. They are two of a kind and even though mittens was found in the middle of the road, she is considered just as valuable as my pure bred apollo. And she is the inspiration for my finding ragdolls. Apollo has adapted so well, to everyone and anyone. He and Apollo – The Ragdoll Kitten that Found His Forever Homemittens often wait on the windowsill for a chance to “chat” with the mailman. I have even witnessed our mailman waving to our kitty’s and tapping the window. Lol Apollo sleeps in the bed… he started out sleeping on is blanket at the bottom of the bed and now sleeps on the back of my neck every night. I do adore both of my babies (mittens, is now about 6 months old) and apollo, just 8 weeks. My husband never liked cats, he was never much on any animals really, OH but now he does on them both as much as i do. But a few minutes with my fur babies will soften anyone’s hearts. Mittens “talks” and chatters to me quite a bit.

Apollo will come out with a very squeaky meow when I speak to him. He is very alert, very well behaved, and loves to be groomed (either by mittens or by me), he watches t.v and looks right into your eyes when you speak to him. it’s so hard to believe that i had went my entire life without being a cat person, but now, I am on the opposite end of the spectrum. . It feels as though I was meant to own these two, or better yet, they own me. I love them both tremendously. So that’s how a found kitten in the middle of the road led to my love for ragdolls and my love for cats in general. They both have taught me so much in such a small amount of time. I am so blessed to have them both.
