Flame Point Ragdoll Cats: Unique Traits, Subtypes & Care Tips

The flame point Ragdoll cat is the name that the CFA (Cat Fancier’s Association) has assigned to red and orange Ragdolls. They are also called “Red Ragdolls”.  This is only one of the several color varieties seen in the Ragdoll breed, but it is certainly one of the most impressive out there in the feline universe.  This article covers flame point Ragdolls, the various subtypes, and their main characteristics. First, it’s important to clarify that flame point Ragdolls include both red and orange Ragdolls. There is an impressive color palette available, from darker red to light orange, but, please note that all flame points come with a combination of red/orange and white. Typically, the body of a flame point is a creamy shade of white. This warm tone is perfectly in line with the red and orange colors found on the cat’s extremities – head, legs, and tail. The term flame point comes from the noticeably warm shade of the red/orange fur. As for the paw pads and the nose, these are light pink the vast majority of cases. The main reason for the bicolor nature of flame point Ragdolls is the preservation of the breed’s specific characteristics – the points (mask, legs, ears, and tails) and the pattern. While the most common Ragdoll cat is the seal point, there are quite a few flame points out there for those who want the amazing personality and the uniquely silky coat of a Ragdoll in a red or orange cat. Here are some of the possible types of flame point Ragdolls:

• Flame Point Ragdoll Cat

This is the most common version of a flame point Ragdoll cat, as it has the characteristic creamy white body and the dark orange mask and tail.

Flame Lynx Point Bicolor Ragdoll Cat

This lovely little critter presents a bicolor pattern with dark orange and white. Please notice the creamy white body, the orange tail, and the orange mask.

Flame Lynx Mitted Ragdoll Cat

As the cat in the picture above, this Ragdoll presents a white body with a dark orange tail and mask, orange legs with white mitts.

Flame Lynx Colorpoint Ragdoll Cat

This cat presents a creamy white and deep orange lynx pattern on its body, tail, mittens and mask. This is one of the most appreciated varieties of the flame point Ragdoll.

Seal Flame Bicolor Torbie Ragdoll Cat

This cat presents all the characteristics of the classic seal point Ragdoll, but it also has flame-worthy characteristics. The torbie pattern makes this cat a very particular Ragdoll. To sum up, a flame point Ragdoll is a red or orange Ragdoll cat. The name was assigned to these Ragdolls of these colors by the CFA and it comes from the warm shades or red and orange displayed in this variety of Ragdolls. They come in a wide variety of color and pattern combination, which gives cat-lovers a lot of options to choose from when it comes to this type of Ragdoll.
