Meet K.B. Beauregard: Ragdoll Kitten of the Month – A Tale of Love & Cats

Submitted November 23, 2019 Twenty three years ago, in a new state, with a new baby and a new husband, at a new job, and with new doubts and insecurities, I met a new friend. For privacy I will call her “K.B.” She just shined. She gave to me a grace and hope that none other has been able to impart. She was a beautiful influence and she loved beautiful cats. Two of them. Bianca and Fifi. Two ragdoll beauties. The times I shared with my friend (my soulmate), and her kitties were too few. Her precious Ragdolls just floored me, as did she. Grace, beauty, gentleness, fun and wisdom were found in her. Her friendship got me through some pretty tough times. Through the years I was able to adopt two Ragdolls. One a retired breeder and one from the shelter. Both have since passed. And, unfortunately… so has my friend. She left us at only 42 years old. After 21 years of friendship. She died a violent, freakish, and disturbing death. Three years later my grief still overtakes me at times. The word “shocking” is an understatement. Time has given me a new husband and a new life. I am an empty nester now and people and situations have moved on from the days I spent with my dear friend fawning over her Ragdolls. I could never forget my “KB” and the love she imparted to me, and for the Ragdoll breed. When my hubby and I decided to add a fur baby to our lives there was no question. It would be a Ragdoll kitten. It would be a boy and he would be beautiful and huge and loving and perfect. After much research, emails and phone calls, I found Wiletteragdol in Massachusettes. I was patient…after coming up on the waitlist, I passed on two litters. I wanted perfection. My expectations were met and exceeded. Wiletteragdoll gave me the most loving, best socialized, beautiful kitten I could imagine. Meet K.B. Beauregard. Beauregard means “Beautiful gaze”, or “Beautiful eyes”. He was born on April 10, 2019 and as I write this he isn’t even 8 months old yet and he weighs ten pounds! Both my friend K.B. and this amazing kitten have piercing blue eyes. They both also have an ability to ground and comfort me and remind me of what is important. I couldn’t ask for a more perfect kitten. From day one he has been so comfortable in our home. He has cuddled and purred and looked at me with a familiarity that brings tears to my eyes. KB Beauregard is my saving grace. His little spirit has brought such joy and helped to heal my heart. When I love him and play with him I am reminded of how much my friend would love him, how much she DOES love him and it makes me feel she is here with me, loving little KB. He is growing so fast these days. He eats three times a day, sleeps all night on our bed and doesn’t try to wake us until he sees us rouse. He does everything perfect from using his scratching post, to using his litterbox and making Mommy and Daddy proud when company comes over to meet him. He even fetches! Little KB Beauregard has brought so much joy to my life and my heart. His namesake would be proud. I know she is.
