Meet Bogie, the World‑Traveling Ragdoll Who Captivated Our Hearts

Meet Bogie the “World Traveler”. Bogie is now 8 years old Ragdoll who had to be given up at just 10 weeks old and is one of the many fur baby loves that we have either adopted or rescued.
We found Bogie as a kitten when camping down the Oregon Coast from Canada with our dog in tow it was love at first sight. We have always committed to our animals being part of our everyday life so we bought a trailer when we adopted a senior blind cat so our pets could be a part of our vacations.

We had been dedicated boaters but needed a traveling hotel to have our pets join us but that didn’t mean that boating was over.
We decided to take Bogie on the boat and he loved it and has ventured out every year, now that is not to say he didn’t get sick once or twice but he never coward from the life on the boat.

He did miss judge once when I rowed up to the main boat and thought he would jump onto the boat, oops!! “I thought the back deck was lower”! “Oh look I can swim too”!!! I was committed to this cat never being afraid of water so from a young age started bathing him, I guess that is why it didn’t seem to bother him when he went for a dip in the cold ocean!

He is the sweetest most cuddly kitty, but if there is no room when our dog Abby is lying down on me, Bogie will make room for himself usually by laying on top of poor old Abby! He loves to go outside for his stroll around the yard but we are always nearby, he knows when 4pm rolls around and he will let you know it is his time to romp in the back yard.

He loves to put on a leash and his coat when it is cold and doesn’t bat an eye. Where would we be without the love of a Ragdoll! BTW, he is named after an airplane part, you can blame my husband for that one who works on Airplanes!
Bogie has always been a good sport for just about anything, he loves to camp where he can walk on the beach with a leash to keep the eagles away and waits at the bathroom sink every morning to get his teeth brushed.

He has a “wardrobe” of raincoats, snow coats, bowties for Christmas (we affectionately call him “Bogie Bond” when sporting the tie). He can lay on the boat all day and just watch the world go by or lay on a picnic table and listen to the birds.
It took 3 days to teach him to sit, shake paw, know his right from his left and hi five!!

We have always discouraged anything to do with birds by distracting him and it seems to work. He has ventured out in the “Tail Wagon” on the bikes with Abby the dog in tow. He has just been given a clean bill of health by our vet with ultrasound, bloodwork etc. and we hope to share our life together for many more years to come.

All our pets coincidentally have “dual citizenship” we can’t help but check out animal shelters when travelling, we are drawn to them like magnets!!
