How to Deworm a Cat at Home
- Deworming medication (liquid or tablet)
- Syringe or spoon
- Towel
- Lubricant (for tablets)
- Cat treats
Instructions:
1. Preparation:
- Consult with a veterinarian to determine the appropriate deworming medication and dosage for your cat.
- Follow the instructions provided on the medication packaging.
2. Safety First:
- Place your cat on a towel to prevent them from scratching you while you administer the medication.
3. Administering Liquid Medication:
- If giving liquid medication, use the syringe provided.
- Gently insert the tip of the syringe into the side of your cat's mouth, between their cheek and teeth.
- Slowly squeeze the syringe to release the medication.
4. Administering Tablets:
- If giving a tablet, use a tablet giver.
- Open your cat's mouth by gently grasping their lower jaw.
- Place the tablet as far back in their mouth as possible.
- Use a syringe filled with water to flush the tablet down.
5. Reward Your Cat:
- Offer your cat a treat to make the experience positive.
Additional Tips:
- Do not attempt to give tablets or liquid medication to a struggling cat.
- If your cat is having difficulty swallowing, contact a veterinarian.
- Deworm your cat periodically as recommended by your veterinarian.
