It really depends on a few issues.

  • Personality
  • Type of cat
  • How much time you spend with them and the kind of relationship you have
  • Number of cats and the relationship between them
  • How long you’re gone

In general cats will sleep a few hours after their owners are gone, so if you have a part time job working a few hours a day, there’s a strong chance your cat won’t get lonely. Your feline friend will do what cats love to do most . . .

If you still haven’t come home after they wake up, most likely your cat will do a combination of the following;

  • Look for you
  • Meow at the door
  • Groom themselves
  • Have a bite to eat
  • Use the litter box
  • Play
  • Stand guard at the window

After that it’s back to bed for a couple of hours and then a repeat of the above activities. This cycle will continue until you get back.
