The calm disposition of ragdoll cats is the most popular feature of this breed. They are extremely fond of humans and are so fond of being handled that they go limp when picked up. Having said that, they have a more dependent personality than other cats. For this reason, it is not recommended to go for a ragdoll kitten if you have a hectic routine.

Color patterns of ragdoll cats

Ragdoll cats come in a variety of colors and patterns. Although most of them are born white, ragdoll kittens develop a wide variety of color patterns as they grow old. Based on these colors and patterns, you can choose from different types of ragdoll cats.

Colors of ragdoll kittens

A ragdoll cat can develop any of the following coat colors.

• Seal – a combination of the creamy white body and very dark brown extremities
• Blue – light grey body of the cat has dark grey extremities
• Cream – the ivory-colored body of the cat is complemented by creamy extremities
• Lilac – the body is very light in color and the extremities are gray and cream-colored
• Chocolate – the light-colored body of the cat has light brown extremities  
• Flame – a combination of very light-colored body and red or orange extremities
• Mink – these cats are the darker version of blue, seal, lilac, and flame
• Solid – these cats have full-color coats instead of traditional pointed bodies

Patterns of ragdoll cats

The main patterns that you can find in a ragdoll cat are listed below.

• Colorpoint
• Bicolor
• Mitted
• Lynx

Ragdoll patterns and colors can take up to 2 years to develop because the point gene reacts to the surrounding warmth. This is the reason why point kittens are almost completely white at the time of birth. However, different colors do start to appear within the first few weeks of a ragdoll cat.

For instance, blue and seal can be observed in the first week or so. On the other hand, lilac and chocolate cannot be observed until the kitten is 3-4 weeks old. Generally, the color of your kitten becomes evident within the first 8-12 weeks. Despite this initial indication, the ragdoll color patterns can take around 24 months to develop completely.

Ragdolls have the reputation of being gentle, calm, and affectionate. They are incredibly devoted to their owners and that’s the reason why some people compare them with dogs. Despite their extraordinarily loving nature, it’s important to take care of their natural needs.
