Shih Tzu’s Daily Greeting for His Brother: A Heartwarming Display of Loyalty
We love our dogs, and nothing beats the feeling that they love us back. Dogs show affection in many ways, but perhaps the clearest sign is a tail‑wagging, excited greeting.
In a recent TikTok clip, a Shih Tzu named Ozzy demonstrates just that. He sits in the same spot every day – a cozy living‑room chair overlooking the street – and waits for his older brother to return from school.
When the doorbell rings, Ozzy’s tail starts to wag, he jumps off the chair, and rushes into a tight hug with his brother. The moment is so adorable it had viewers “smiling and tearing up at the same time.”
One commenter wrote, “Nothing better than your best friend so happy to see you. It’s the part that I look forward to the most.” The footage reminds us how deep the bond between dogs and their families can be.

Ozzy’s daily greeting shows remarkable timing, but how do dogs know exactly when to look out the window? Recent research suggests that animals possess internal clocks.
A 2018 study at Northwestern University identified “time‑encoding neurons” in the temporal lobe – the brain region that processes memory and navigation. In a virtual “door stop” experiment, mice were trained to open invisible doors at specific times, proving that internal clocks can guide behavior. While the study used mice, experts agree the findings translate to dogs.
Dog trainer Adrienne Kepp, speaking to the American Kennel Club, notes that obedience training often relies on precise timing. “You always have to mix things up with dogs or they become little robots,” she says. “Timing is learned; a dog remembers your routine and then acts accordingly.”
In short, Ozzy’s habit is a blend of a sharp memory and a built‑in sense of time – a testament to the intelligence and love of our canine companions.
