Tragic Incident in Michigan: Catahoula Hound Attack Claims Life of 2-Month-Old
Dog Kills Infant in Springfield Township
Springfield Twp MI – The attack happened Sunday June 8 while a 2 month old infant was being held by his 18 year old uncle. The dog, a 3 year old Catahoula hound tried to jump onto the couch and the uncle pushed him off, that’s when the attack begain. The dog jumped back onto the couch and tore into the infant’s head and neck. The baby was airlifted to William Beaumont Hospital where he died.
There doesn’t appear to be any case for negligence, Oakland County Sheriff Michal Bouchard said. “It just turned and grabbed the baby,” the sheriff said. “Who knows how much of this is instinctual, who knows how much territorial?” “This is a tragic incident and it is a sad reminder to keep animals away from small children and babies no matter what the circumstances may be,” Bouchard said. “Animal behavior, whether intended as playful or territorial, can have devastating impact on small children.”
