Meet This Years Ugliest Dog Winner Peanut

Is that the face only a mother (or pet parent) can love?

Peanut, a 2 year old mutt from North Carolina took home the prize this year. His owner Holly Chandler says they are going to use the $1500 prize money to pay for other animals’ veterinary bills.

Peanut was a victim of animal abuse. When he was a a puppy he was badly burned. Though Peanut is healthy now he was left with a lot of scars; he doesn’t have lips anymore and he no longer has eyelids. Since he can’t close his eyes they water and drain into his nose. Chandler hopes Peanut’s big win will help raise awareness about animal abuse.

World’s Ugliest Dog Contest to be held Friday June 20, 2014

The 26th annual contest will be held today at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in California. Competition is high this year – 29 dogs from across the country will be competing for the title. This years winner will receive $1500 and a trip to a doggy spa.
