Wichita, Kansas – On July 4 officers from the Wichita Police department rescued a 6 month old German Shepherd that had gotten stuck on an overpass.
Two officers were on a routine traffic assignment went they looked up and saw a dog looking down at him from a 30 foot ledge on the overpass. The two officers went to check on the dog and were joined by another couple Wichita Police who were in the area.
The four managed to pull the dog up over the ledge and get him back onto safe ground.
The dog then ran for it. The officers had to shut down traffic while they rounded him back up. The police department posted this photo of their rescue to facebook and other social media sites and it quickly went viral.
The owner of the dog was located the next day and he was reunited. The officers say they suspect that fireworks might be to blame for the dog running off in the first place.
