Animal Control Offers Reward For Information On Emaciated Dog Found In Lansing

Lansing, Michigan – Ingham County Animal Control is seeking information that can lead to information on a severely emaciated dog that was found in Hawk Park this morning. They’ve offered $500 to any lead that leads to an arrest or conviction of the person responsible for the dogs neglect.

The dog was discovered by a passer by at the park this morning; she was found laying motionless. They called animal control and officers quickly responded and transported the dog back to their facility.

She was not wearing a collar and doesn’t have a microchip.

She’s believed to be an adult female Mastiff mix. She weighed in at 42 pounds. By comparison a healthy Mastiff usually weighs between 120 and 170 pounds.

She’s currently under the care of the staff at Ingham County Animal Control. They report she seems to be doing well so far but they have to run a series of blood tests to see how much damage has been done.

The shelter staff doesn’t think she’s a stray, or that she’s been away from human contact for any length of time due to her comfort around shelter workers. They also say she probably couldn’t have wandered very far given her current condition.

The shelter hopes that she will continue to make good progress and that eventually she will be available for adoption.

In the meantime the shelter is seeking any information that can lead to an arrest of the person responsible. Anyone with information can contact Animal Control through their anonymous cruelty tip line at 517-676-8376 or ac_shelter@ingham.org
