Zeppelinmoon's recent diptych—“Waiting” and “Chosen”—has resonated across social media, shining a light on the plight of dogs that linger in shelters.
“Waiting” was created to raise awareness that greyhounds and black dogs face the highest rejection rates in shelters, often spending the longest time in waiting rooms. “Chosen” offers a hopeful narrative, illustrating how many of these animals find loving homes. According to the RSPCA, greyhounds are adopted at a rate 20% lower than the national average, and black dogs are 25% less likely to be adopted—data that underscores the urgency of Fossey’s message.
Fossey, who earned her medical degree from UCL and worked in forensic psychiatry, pivoted in 2017 to channel her passion for “radical compassion” into whimsical watercolour art. She paints resilient animals and tells stories that champion the sentient lives of all species, especially those most often overlooked.
Her work has gained international attention, and she is now based in a treehouse in South‑East England, where she famously pretends to be a sloth and engages in conversations with crows. View her portfolio at zeppelinmoon.com.
